Have questions? Maybe we can clear some things up

1Will my posts be visible to the public?
Only if you want. Each time you write you will have the choice to if you would like to make the final product public to help other learners improve their reading comprehension of your native language. You can change the public/private status of a particular post at any time from your profile.
2Is my data safe?
Your submissions are secured safely behind oAuth 1.0 certification and SSL Certificate barriers. If you choose to delete your account, all of your texts and private information will also be deleted from the website.
3Can I delete posts if I want?
Of course you can! We respect your privacy and realize that you may want to delete things you've written in the past. Deleting posts is permanent and can't be undone so be cautious.
4What native texts do you use to compare to?
Your text is compared with a text database that contains hundreds of texts (about 500,000 words) in each language from native bloggers on medium.com. Fortunately, Medium has individual sites that are dedicated to native authors of different languages.
5Is it possible to get a 100% score?
Yep! When we say the program compares you to the 'average', what we mean is that it compares your writing to the range of native scores that are considered average (within one standard deviation from the mean... statistics stuff).
6If native speakers are correcting these, why do we need other scoring metrics?
Oftentimes, it is too difficult for a text corrector to correct the text in such a way that it sounds like a native wrote it. They correct the errors but don't change things that just 'sound funny'. This program grades that funny sound of your text in addition to the corrections and tracks your progress over time.
7Why are my past scores changing?
New native texts are always being added to our database to get more accurate results. Any time new texts are added, certain range averages for scores may change. When these ranges change, your past scores may change as well. Just know that any change in score is giving you a more accurate depiction of how native you are writing.
8Why aren't you GDPR Compliant?
This platform does everything it can to keep your data secure and to be transparent about how we use your data. However, the site is just beginning and hasn't had an opportunity to implement some of the more minor features required to be GDPR compliant (ability for you to download all personal data we have on your account). We will add this functionality in future updates.
9Why Penguins?
We are flattered to get this question so often. Despite our appearance, we are actually very intelligent, and over time we evolved to be one of the most intelligent species on Earth. If you want to learn more about our story and how this program is being created check, it out here.
